anybody hear of any civil war sites by the fox river in st charles and elgin or civil war prisoners by joliet?

If memory serves me, I do think there was a military installation down in the Joliet area for the civil war. I know that up here in my area we have an old Civil War Prisoner of War installation that was for confederate soldiers. You can do research on the Civil War stuff through many geneological web sites. Another good resource is state history for the time period.

I was going though the library catalog to see what I could find. The libraries have a vast array of Illinois History on the Civil War, some list sites, while others lists stories....even a story can lead you to a location if enough information is given and you can be granted permission to go md'ing on the property!
